Reflect, Re-calibrate and Go Forward

CEO Jane Fraser declared May 28 a no workday; a company-wide “Citi Reset Day”.    With only six weeks into her CEO role, she called a halt to inside the company Friday Zoom meetings --a bold step.  Fraser urged Citi employees to re-establish the boundary between work and working all the time adding that an unbalanced work life means more work hours but rarely greater productivity.

I am not a Citi employee; I am Citi follower, so I planned my own “reset” day and as a result Memorial Day became more than the first hamburgers of the season.  I reexamined my work hours and my schedule of activities by asking:   Is this the future that I want to live into—a future that allows me to be my best self at work and at play.  Time to reset—restore the balance and the fun.  The  80% Zoom May will give way to a 50/50 June in person mix—a conscious choice to include the people, places, and interactions that I enjoy.

Our individual ability and capacity to reinvent and continually redesign is essential to meet the complexity, ambiguity, and dynamics of our new reality.

The stakes are high we cannot fast forward into a hybrid world.  That is why the call for individuals to reset is so powerful and immediate. Here are a few questions to consider?

  • How will you work:  hybrid?  Resident? Remote?

  • What opportunities are scheduled to re-connect to people, places, and activities that you love?

  • What are the most valuable practices and insights learned during Covid to carry forward?

  • Will your new schedule allow you to be your best?

Please be patient imagine that you are waiting for your computer to reboot in reality you are restarting your life.   We all are.  Reset Today!
